Throstle Park was a former field adjascent to Barton Laws and turned into a wildlife park in 2020 with help from Environment Funding from Cumbria County Council.

It has a wide path around the perimeter that provides access for walkers, bikes, prams and wheelchairs, and has a  newly created wildlife pond to mitigate flooding in the area.

With the help of local volunteer group, Wildlife for Wigton, over 1000 trees were planted around the perimeter. A living willow structure was also donated by Wordsworth Trust Grasmere and West Cumbria Carers, created by a willow artist.

We have some memorial blossom trees and a copper beech tree was planted at the highest point by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria in February 2022 to celebrate HM Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
