Following the Governments actions this week on social distancing and the instruction to remain at home and only make essential travel, NHS Blood and Transplant can confirm donating blood is essential travel with the following:
We can confirm that blood donation is essential travel under the category of ‘medical need and helping a vulnerable person. If you are fit and well please keep donating.
I’ve also included links with the relevant information on Covid-19 and donating and the extra steps NHSBT are taking to make the donation environment safe for staff and donors to attend in line with the social distancing restriction currently in place.
